Digital Audio Editing and Mastering is a sophisticated audio process that enhances and technically prepares your recordings (final 2-tracks mix) for CD or cassette duplication. It offers the musician, producer or DJ, a unique opportunity to edit and enhance their projects easy and accurate without digital generation loss. It is a critical step between your 2-tracks recordings (final mixes from recording studio) and CD pressing plant (where Glass Mastering and CD replication take place). Mastering could be as simple as indexing, applying PQ sub-code to the final sequence, and creating a reference CD-R, ready for sending to pressing plant. In other cases, it could involve lot of editing from different DAT tapes, CDs and/or WAV files, and extensive sonic enhancement (equalization, limiting, compression, pitch shifting, maximizing, etc.) before creating a reference CD-R. Usually editing and mastering is something in-between.
We believe that every music project is unique, and deserves special attention and approach. Usually, our clients expect us to react to the music as if we were sitting together in our Mastering suite. This can be done, once we know your preferences. So, when you are sending us your project for mastering, please include as much details as you can about how you would like your project to be mastered.
Once we have received your project we will contact you to confirm it and start working. According to your preferences and our possibilities, we will edit and master your project and send it back with the reference CD-R or master DAT tape. We said "our possibilities", because we will tell you straight-ahead if we couldn’t meet your needs. We don't want to waste your time, money and nerves. Before we create reference CD-R, we will check finished (mastered) project on a few audio systems in different listening environments.
Our simple pricing system is based on the length of your material for editing and/or mastering. The only additional expenses are cost of blank media (CD-R or DAT tape) and shipping.
It does not include level or sound changes. We will edit your project, put the songs (takes) in the final order (provided by you), perform sample rate conversion (if it needs any), clean spacing between songs and create the reference CD-R with correct PQ sub-code.
Includes Editing and basic level and sound changes. First we will edit your project, put songs in the final order, smooth fades (if they need any), remove hiss, clicks, pops and other extraneous sounds, normalize (to gain optimum overall level and consistency between songs) and create the reference CD-R.
If your project needs major level and sound enhancement. First we will edit your project (putting songs in the final order, removing hiss, clicks, sample rate conversion), then we will perform equalization, compression, maximizing, stereo widening, pitch shifting, and any other level or sound changes in order to enhance the sound of the final reference CD-R.
If you need additional copies of your reference CD-R, we can supply you with as many copies as you need either CD-R or DAT. We will make those copies straight from computer hard-drive, not from CD-R or DAT, in order to get highest quality copies.
We can archive your project for the period from 30-90 days. We will store your project in our computer hard-drive disc. It is including storage of your original project – raw files, mastered project – processed files, plug-ins and other settings as pre-sets. In case you require any changes or readjustment, that can be done easily, or in case if something goes wrong in the after-mastering production of your project, this is convenient way to completely restore your project.
Archiving for: 30 days - 50 US$, 60 days - 70 US$, 90 days - 90 US$
Quantegy Gold CD-R - 3 US$
Quantegy DAT 124M - 13 US$

Generally, our clients like to know in advance, how long the editing and mastering process will take. It is difficult to say for certain beforehand, but mastering usually takes from 3 to 8 hours. There is a large number of factors that affect the editing and mastering time required, like: number of submitted DATs and/or CDs for editing and mastering, length of source material, number of songs (takes) on source material and for mastering (reference CD-R), amount of sound enhancement required.
Editing and mastering process can be divided into four main segments:
So, for example: for a project of 45 minutes, containing 10 songs, with some basic editing and mastering required, the time estimation might be:
This gives us total time of 240 minutes = 4 hours.
